New Tools For Everyday Users
1. Video Recap Of Meetings In Copilot Chat
Do you hate missing long meetings? You are not alone. Copilot now turns meeting summaries into short video highlight reels. You get the key clips without scrubbing through a full recording.
How it works: Ask Copilot Chat to summarize a meeting and it gives you a narrated video recap alongside the written summary. It is also available in the Microsoft Clipchamp web player.
Requirements: The meeting must be over 10 minutes long and must have recording enabled. Launching in English only initially.
💡 Tip: This is perfect for remote teams. No more watching hour-long recordings just to find two key decisions.
2. Researcher Gets Powerful New Output Formats
Do you write reports and need to share them fast? Copilot Researcher now lets you export your research in multiple formats with a single click.
You can now export Researcher reports as:
- PowerPoint presentation
- PDF document
- Infographic
- Audio overview (great for listening on the go)
✔ Good News: No more redoing work for different audiences. One Researcher report, four formats, all in one click.
3. Branded Footer For The Microsoft 365 Copilot App
Do your staff feel nervous about using AI at work? Admins can now add a branded company footer inside the Copilot Chat screen. It shows your company name and approved text, telling users they are working with a safe, company-approved AI tool.
This is a small but important change for organizations rolling out Copilot for the first time. It builds trust and signals that leadership has approved the tool.
4. Copilot Notebooks Gets A Fresh New Look
Is your research workspace messy? Keeping track of many links, chats, and documents at once is hard. The new Copilot Notebooks experience fixes this with a clean, side-by-side view.
The update brings together your references, Copilot Pages, and chat history into one seamless workspace. Other improvements include:
- Richer reference sets
- A new Overview page for quick navigation
- Faster artifact creation with Copilot
- Easier sharing with teammates
💡 Tip: Think of the new Notebooks as an AI-powered research desk. Everything you need is in one clean view.
5. Audio Recap Now Available In Seven New Languages
Do you work with global or multilingual teams? Copilot in Teams now supports audio meeting recaps in seven additional languages.
In addition to English, you can now generate audio summaries in:
- Chinese
- French
- German
- Italian
- Japanese
- Portuguese
- Spanish
Whether your team is commuting, multitasking, or simply prefers audio over reading, audio recap delivers key discussion points, decisions, and action items in the language that works best for them.
6. AI In SharePoint Makes Building Easy
Scared of building company websites or document libraries? You no longer need technical skills. AI in SharePoint (previously called Knowledge Agent) lets you build sites, pages, and document libraries using plain English.
Just type what you want. The AI does the hard work. It also automatically extracts and applies metadata, and adapts your libraries as content changes over time.
💡 Tip: This preview is powered by the Claude model from Anthropic. It entered Public Preview in March 2026. A worldwide rollout follows in May.
⚠ Note: This is a Public Preview. Some features may change before the general availability release in May 2026.
7. Work IQ And Local Workbook Editing In Excel
Most Copilot features work best with files saved in the cloud. But not everyone stores their files online. Copilot in Excel now solves two big problems at once.
Local file editing: Copilot can now make multi-step edits to Excel workbooks stored locally on your Windows or Mac computer. No need to upload to the cloud first.
Work IQ context: When you are editing in Excel, Work IQ automatically pulls in the most relevant context from your emails, meetings, chats, and files. You do not have to search for old messages to find the data you need.
✔ Good News: If you still keep files on your desktop, Copilot can now work with them directly. No cloud migration required.
8. Clear Citations In Copilot For Word
Worried about AI adding facts you cannot verify? Copilot in Word now automatically shows citations whenever it uses information from web content or Work IQ sources.
A small citation link appears in your document. Click it to see exactly where the fact came from. This is essential for professionals writing proposals, reports, or any document where accuracy matters.
9. Standardize Formatting In Copilot For PowerPoint
Are your presentation slides a visual mess? Fixing fonts and bullet styles across 20 slides takes ages. Copilot in PowerPoint now fixes this in one click.
Enable the Standardize Formatting tool and Copilot automatically updates fonts, font sizes, and bullet styles across every slide at once. The result is a polished, consistent presentation without any manual effort.
Availability: Rolled out on the web in March 2026. Desktop versions for Windows and Mac are coming soon.
New Controls For IT Admins
10. Protect Sensitive Data With Microsoft Purview DLP
Are you worried about sensitive data leaking through AI prompts? Microsoft Purview Data Loss Prevention (DLP) has expanded significantly for Copilot in March 2026.
DLP now works like a safety net in two key ways:
- Web search protection: Prevents users from sending sensitive data (like financial information or national IDs) into Copilot web search prompts.
- Prompt protection: Admins can define policies that restrict Copilot from responding if a user prompt contains sensitive data such as bank account numbers or custom sensitive information types.
⚠ Warning: This is a critical update for organizations with strict compliance requirements. Configure your DLP policies before June 2026 when the feature goes globally available.
11. Manage Authoritative Sources, High-Usage Users, And Domain Exclusion
Admins now have three powerful new tools in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center:
- Authoritative Sources: Designate specific SharePoint sites as trusted, high-priority content sources for Copilot Search. This improves the accuracy and relevance of search results across your organization.
- High-Usage Users Dashboard: A new category that identifies employees driving high consumption in pay-as-you-go Copilot services. Helps IT and finance teams spot cost drivers early and manage license spending.
- Domain Exclusion: Block specific external websites from being used as sources when Copilot generates web-grounded responses. Rolling out in April 2026.
12. Track Satisfaction And Usage With The Copilot Dashboard
Is Copilot actually helping your team? Now you can measure it properly. The Copilot Dashboard has two important new capabilities:
- User satisfaction tracking: See thumbs up and thumbs down trends on Copilot responses over time and by team group.
- Intent and usage metrics: Track how people are using Copilot across Microsoft 365 apps, including specific intent-based scenarios in Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (such as translate, suggested reply, coach, and clean data).
💡 Tip: Use these metrics in your next IT review to show clear evidence of Copilot return on investment to leadership.
13. Build Custom AI Agents With Copilot Tuning Templates
Need Copilot to follow your company’s specific rules and writing style? Agent Builder now includes Copilot Tuning Templates. You can teach Copilot to:
- Draft complex documents specific to your industry
- Validate files against your internal compliance guidelines
- Match your company’s unique writing style and tone
⚠ Important: This feature requires at least 5,000 Microsoft 365 Copilot licenses. Frontier rollout in April 2026, worldwide in June 2026.
